From the Robin Wood deck

Anne drew this card just before we left England and I remember saying to her, ‘he hangs by his feet, not by his neck.’

He is about surrendering control – the reward is the bliss of the Infinite, the sacrifice of Odin on the Tree of Life, its purpose the gaining of knowledge.

The Hanged Man tells of the Great Paradox – when you stop struggling, stop seeking, that is when you find what you are after.

Reversed, of course, a refusal to accept that lesson, to keep trying to keep control, or to fear the feeling of powerlessness.
