Grey Spider Flower was the first Australian Bush Flower Essence I learned about at Hippie Counselling School.

It does exactly what it says on the tin so it’s an easy one to remember. The Spider is an archetype for primordial fear but this flower doesn’t just look spidery, it appears to be a collection of little screaming faces.

Compare Grey Spider Flower with Edvard Munch’s The Scream and you’ll see what I mean.

This Essence is for extreme terror. While Green Spider Orchid deals with nameless fears and anxieties, Grey Spider Flower addresses the real deal.

Its energy would help to ease the immediate effects of a life-threatening or disturbing situation. And nothing in the Tarot says trauma to me more than the Tower.

However, in this instance I’m going to pair Grey Spider Flower with Judgment because instinct and experience tell me that the horror of our Tower moments can ultimately be healed only in the inner cauldron of our own psyches.

Yes, it does feel in those moments that we will not survive the flames but if we persevere we can be renewed and strengthened. Grey Spider Flower aids a cool eye in the heat of terror.
